Consumer products are objects which are intended to come into contact with food, cosmetics and, on a non-temporary basis, persons.

Under Section 2 (6) sentence 1 (2 to 9) of the Food and Feedingstuffs Code (LFGB), these include:

1. Packagings, containers or other wrappings which are intended to come into contact with cosmetics (e.g. compacts, boxes),

2. Objects which are intended to come into contact with the mucous membrane of the mouth (e.g. toothbrushes, whistles),

3. Objects which are intended for personal hygiene (e.g. combs, shavers, towels),

4. Toys and joke articles (e.g. dolls, cuddly toys, artist’s colours, plastic modelling material),

5. Objects which are intended to come into contact, on a non-temporary basis, with the human body (e.g. clothing, bed linen and sheets, masks, hairpieces)

6. Cleaning agents and care products which are intended for domestic use, or come into contact with food (e.g. cleaners, furniture polish, washing-up liquid, descaling agent),

7. Impregnating agents and other agents for consumer products within the meaning of number 6, which are intended for domestic use (e.g. shoe cream, impregnating sprays, whiteners),

8. Agents and objects for the reduction of odour in rooms intended for human sojourn (z.B. room spray, ethereal oils for scented lamps)
