Research Cooperation for Foodsecurity and Nutrition in Africa

Early December a delegation from the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and the German Federal Office for Agriculture and Food travelled to Pretoria in South Africa for an initial meeting of the "LEAP-Agri Consortium". The objective of the five-year LEAP-Agri project is to contribute to the development of food production and to improved nutrition in Africa with collaborative research.

EU-Workshop on "Demonstration Farms for Integrated Pest Management" in Bonn

At the end of May, 70 actors from the transnational network for pest management "C-IPM: Coordinated Integrated Pest Management in Europe" and from the area of EU crop management guidelines took part in the workshop.

Expert Workshop at the BLE: International Research Cooperation for Global Food Security

From 14 April to 15 April, 37 international experts met at the BLE for a workshop on global food security. They discussed innovative approaches to the processing of foodstuffs in sub-Saharan Africa and South East Asia for reducing food losses in terms of both quality and quantity. The aim was to identify focal points of future research.

BLE presents German networking activities at an international conference in Brussels

The international conference, entitled Designing the path: a strategic approach to EU agricultural research and innovation, organised by the Directorate-General Agriculture, took place in Brussels from January 26 to 28, 2016. During the conference the BLE presented the German networking activities within the framework of the European Innovation Partnerships (EIP).
