Call for Transnational Research Projects on Organic Food and Farming
The EU research network CORE Organic has launched its transnational joint call for research project proposals on 6 December 2016. The projects aim at supporting organic farming and processing of organic food.
The call addresses transnational consortia of higher education institutions, non-university research institutes, and companies registered in Germany. For applicants the closing date for the submission of pre-proposals is 1 March 2017 – 10.00 am CET.
Following a positive evaluation of the pre-proposal, a full proposal must be submitted by 3 July 2017. The pre-proposals are to be submitted via the online submission portal www.eracall.eu which also provides further information on the call for research projects.
Thematic areas funded by the Federal Organic Farming Scheme and other Forms of Sustainable Agriculture (BÖLN) (three out of a total of four topics funded by the call) include:
- Topic 1: Ecological support in specialised and intensive plant production systems
- Topic 3: Appropriate and robust livestock systems: cattle, pigs, poultry
- Topic 4: Organic food processing concepts and technologies for ensuring food quality, sustainability and consumer confidence
CORE Organic Cofund is an ERA-NET project on organic food and farming benefitting from co-funding from the EU Commission. The ERA-NET activities aim at intensifying cooperation between national and regional research funding organizations.
The budget of the 25 partners from 19 countries amounts to approx. Euro 17 million for this call. The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) funds CORE Organic by an amount of up to Euro 1.2 million. The Federal Office for Agriculture and Food acts as a project manager on behalf of BMEL.
